Samsung Electronics Levant Launches the Local Version of Its "Solve for Tomorrow" Contest in Collaboration With the Ministry of Youth

For the first time in the Levant, Samsung Electronics Levant has launched the local version of Samsung Global’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative; Solve for Tomorrow (SFT), which is a nationwide contest aimed at developing students’ creative thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. In collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, with the objective of stimulating innovation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) among students, the contest aims to find effective and efficient solutions to societal challenges and improve quality of life by relying on STEM solutions, thus making a positive impact by creating sustainability for future generations.

The local launch of the Solve for Tomorrow initiative is based on a contest targeting school students aged between 14-18 years as well as members of youth centers affiliated with the Ministry of Youth throughout the Kingdom. Solve for Tomorrow opens doors to their pioneering ideas revolving around two main pillars; the first being sport and health technology, and the second being food and agriculture technology.

The contest, which kicked off on November 24, 2019, will last until March of 2020, contributing to highlighting the talent and creativity of young people, providing the Kingdom with more innovators and social entrepreneurs, as well as enhancing their involvement in serving their communities across all sectors. This allows for the transformation of the larger fabric of society, represented in the youth category, into active individuals and contributors to the sustainable development process.

The contest highlights the importance of Samsung Levant to serve the Kingdom not only in its core field of work, but also extending to the developmental side. Solve for Tomorrow is composed of several phases, starting with the submission of applications by teachers and supervisors of youth centers on behalf of the student participants. A number of ideas are then chosen to compete at a national level. Finalists are later selected to attend training sessions with experts in the STEM field, and given the opportunity to present their final ideas in a live pitch event in front of a judging panel who will deliberate and – based on specific criteria – announce the winners of several valuable prizes from Samsung Electronics.
