Samba to the brazilian spirit with the free Brazilian Portuguese course at Eton Institute

From football to Samba and carnivals to literature – the Brazilian culture is full of colour, zest and passion, and so is its language. Residents this month can learn Brazilian Portuguese right here in Dubai and gain an insight into happy, warm and friendly people of Brazil. Eton Institute, the UAE’s largest language institute, will be offering free Brazilian Portuguese as part of its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) mission to promote language diversity and cross-cultural appreciation.
Language is a strong symbol of Brazil’s national pride and unity with nearly 100% of Brazil’s population speaking the expressive Brazilian Portuguese, and not Spanish unlike a common misconception. It is the seventh most spoken native language in the world, and has gained even importance in recent times with Brazil’s emergence as an economic heavyweight on the international stage.
Moaz Khan, Marketing Manager of Eton Institute, commented: “Brazilian Portuguese is a language so full of personality, humour and culture that it is imperative to understand the language to really understand the people.”
"It is a translator's nightmare" he added, “as there are so many words and phrases which just can’t be translated into another language; they must be experienced, understood and felt as they are. For instance, ‘Desenrascanço’ in a single word which means finding improvised solutions to a problem without having the proper tools or aids. It is really telling of the Brazilian way of thinking.”
