du has announced the winner of is third annual Ramadan Cup Tournament, with the Customer Operations - Falcons beating the Sales 1 Team to win the title for the third year in a row!

After winning their match with a final score of 6 – 1, the Customer Operations - Falcons were presented with their trophy by Osman Sultan, CEO, du; Farid Faraidooni, Chief Commercial Officer, du and Ahman Aburahima, Vice President of Government Relations and Head of the Sports Committee, du. In addition to earning the tournament’s winning slot, each member of the team was given an iPad2 and a gold medal, while runners-up Sales 1 Team received silver medals.

“We would like to extend our congratulations to Customer Operations – Falcons for succeeding in retaining the Tournament title for the third year in a row. They’re clearly a force to be reckoned with, and their teamwork has really paid off,” commented Ahmad Aburahima. “The level of camaraderie between team members throughout the tournament has been infectiously high, and we have seen some fantastic, exciting matches. Well done to everyone who participated.”

du’s Ramadan Cup Tournament pitted 16 football teams of six players each against one another in a series of 15 matches held over eight days. The teams are composed of members, including executive management, from the various business units within the telecommunications company, who battle it out through a series of tiered matches until one emerges victorious to claim the Ramadan Cup. With their recent win, Customer Operations (formerly Customer Care) has remained the undisputed champion team. 

The Ramadan Cup kicked off on August 7, with the final match being played on August 23 at Al Manara School, Dubai. 

At the finale of the 2010 Ramadan Cup Tournament, du invited the talented stars of the UAE’s 1990 ex-National Football squad to play against the winning team, creating a memorable experience for all involved.
