Ramada Ajman bags Wyndham Green Award

Ramada Hotel & Suites Ajman was presented with the Wyndham Green Award during the Wyndham Hotel Group’s Global Conference held in Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

In line with the Wyndham Green Program, the award recognised the property’s commitment to sustaining the environment through its various groundbreaking initiatives such as the Zero Landfill Project and Urban Farm. Bani Haddad, Regional Vice-President for Middle East and Africa, Wyndham Hotel Group, accepted the award on behalf of Ramada Ajman during the event, which was attended by top officials, stakeholders and affiliates of Wyndham Hotel Group.

Haddad extended his congratulations to the property and said: “This is a well-deserved award for Ramada Ajman as the property has set a benchmark in the region’s green program. Wyndham strongly advocates environment-friendly and sustainable hospitality; it encourages the different hotels under the brand to come up with various green initiatives and recognises the properties who lead in achieving this goal.” 

Ramada Hotel and Suites Ajman is actively involved in various green initiatives in the northern emirates. It launched the Zero Landfill Project in 2012, which reduced the hotel’s daily waste from the landfill by approximately 1 ton, and installed a compost machine that converts the hotel’s organic waste into fertiliser. In April 2013, it converted a 430-square meter area of its car park to set up an urban farm, which grows vegetables and crops used in the hotel kitchen. The property is also organising a “Going Green’ art competition in October to help promote environmental awareness among students. In addition, Ramada Ajman regularly organises beach clean-up drive and participates in Earth Hour, Earth Day and World Environment Day.
