QTA seminar on Digital Marketing great success

A two-day seminar for Qatar’s key hospitality and tourism industry figures on e-marketing strategies and digital tools to improve sales ended in Doha today.
Organized by the Qatar Tourism Authority, the seminar received positive feedback from the more than 100 attendees, who plan to utilize the tips and tools they were introduced to at the event.
More than 100 people from Qatar’s travel and hospitality industry gathered attended the Qatar Online Tourism Seminar held Monday and Tuesday at the Doha Exhibition Centre, where they heard from experts about the uses of digital tools and e-marketing techniques.
Held in association with E-Tourism Frontiers, the workshop highlighted the importance of e-marketing and using social networking tools including Facebook, foursquare, Twitter and Linkedin to drive sales and bookings. Yesterday’s program focused on the use of social media as well as avoiding common pitfalls.
The attendees were told that social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter and Slideshare were a way for them to “make direct contact” with potential customers.
There were also given a briefing about the increasingly popular hospitality ratings site, Tripadvisor. They learned that the site, which allows guests to leave reviews of hotels and restaurants, was a powerful tool.
A QTA spokesperson said the workshop had been a success and there were plans to hold an international conference on e-marketing and social media for the industry in the near future.
“We have received amazing feedback from the travel and hospitality leaders who attended this workshop and we are working on the concept of hosting a regional conference on the issue here in Qatar.”
“This seminar is part of the QTA’s commitment to provide ongoing education and opportunities for Qatar’s tourism industry sector.”
