Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) and its member the Qatar National Library (QNL) will this week jointly organise a special event of culture and family entertainment celebrating the year-long ‘Qatar–Brazil 2014’ festival.

Being held at the Education City Clubhouse on Thursday, 6th November, the event is part of a festival that connects people in Qatar and Brazil through a 12-month exchange programme filled with exciting cultural, community and sporting events.

As well as hours of fun for children and parents, the goals of this special event are in-line with the principles of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and QF’s community development objectives of celebrating and educating the next generation about Qatar’s national heritage. In addition, it will increase young people’s knowledge about the nation’s links with this important South American country.

Kicking-off at 4pm, the event will feature an array of exciting activities including story-telling, fun games, cultural and entertaining activities, and arts and crafts from Qatar and Brazil. Kids will also love an outdoor screening of ‘Rio 2’, the hugely popular animated Hollywood film about the adventures of a parrot in the Amazon rainforest.

The ‘Qatar-Brazil 2014’ evening is yet another event in a series of cultural and educational activities organised by Qatar National Library for the public. QNL also offers free online access to a big number of children’s educational and entertaining online databases as part of a vast collection of its online resources, as well as training sessions and community events such as reading groups. Any resident of Qatar with a valid Qatari ID/residence permit is eligible for free library registration.
