Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development hosted His Excellency Mr Abdelmalek Sellal, Prime Minister of the Democratic People’s Republic of Algeria, earlier today. A welcoming committee led by Mr Rashed Al-Qurese, Qatar Foundation’s Deputy Director of Communication, received the Prime Minister and his delegation at the Qatar Foundation Visitors Center.

Alongside Mr Sellal, members of the Algerian party included His Excellency Mr Mourad Medelci, Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Mr Mustapha Benbada, Algerian Minister of Commerce and His Excellency Abdul Fattah Ziani, Algerian Ambassador to Qatar. His Excellency Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Humaidi, Qatari Ambassador to Algeria, also accompanied the delegation.

The Algerian representatives, who are in Doha to attend the 24th session of the Arab League summit taking place this week, listened to a presentation outlining the vision and mission of Qatar Foundation. They were also introduced to the many educational initiatives, community development plans and scientific research programmes undertaken by Qatar Foundation.

Additionally, the party was briefed on Qatar Foundation’s numerous sustainability initiatives and climate action solutions. After the presentation, Prime Minister Sellal and his delegation were shown an impressive 3D scale model of the current buildings and future construction projects at Qatar Foundation.

The delegation’s trip to Doha aims to enhance bilateral relations between Qatar and Algeria while addressing a number of mutual concerns amongst Arab leaders during the summit. As the visit drew to a close, the Algerian Prime Minister signed the visitor’s book and was presented with a commemorative gift on behalf of Qatar Foundation’s staff, students and faculty.
