Oryx Rotana, the five-star luxury business hotel in Doha, hosted a series of pink initiatives during the International Breast Cancer Awareness Month to spread awareness regarding breast cancer as well as to encourage women to be proactive in the prevention of this disease.

To mark the “Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” Oryx Rotana employees sported traditional pink ribbons while a special set up was put together with the special treats from the chefs. The event helped colleagues understand that breast cancer is one of the most curable types of cancer, which due to lack of awareness and timely treatment continues to take thousands of lives every year.

On this occasion Lana Jwainat, Director of Marketing and Communications at Oryx Rotana Doha, said, “We are pleased to showcase our support in the fight against breast cancer. Oryx Rotana has been playing an instrumental role in Qatar’s fight against this sickness. We understand that awareness can make a huge difference as early detection and regular checkups can save many lives.”

"The event is an integral part of our active health and community awareness strategy and an opportunity for people to give back to the community," she added.

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer affecting women worldwide, accounting for 16% of all cancer types. It is notable that in Qatar majority of breast cancer patients are diagnosed in later stages thereby decreasing their chances of survival. October is observed as International Breast Cancer Awareness Month worldwide and the campaign aims at disseminating the message that it is highly treatable and completely curable if detected in the early stages.
