Orange Jordan and Ericsson ensure seamless communication

Growing consumer demand for mobile connectivity in Jordan has resulted in a new agreement between Ericsson, the world’s leading provider of telecommunications services to operators, and Orange Jordan, the sole integrated telecom operator in the Kingdom. The agreement will see Orange Jordan widen its existing exclusive relationship with Ericsson to expand and modernize the operator’s 2G and 3G networks across the Kingdom.
With this new agreement, Ericsson will modernize Orange’s 2G network while expanding the 3G network. The upgrades will allow Orange Jordan to meet the demands of its growing subscriber base and continue to provide customers with high quality connectivity throughout the Kingdom. Under the terms of the agreement, Ericsson will also be supplying Orange with its latest RBS 6000 technology, an energy-efficient compact site solution that prepares the network for LTE/4G technology.
“We are delighted to be continuing our successful relationship with Orange Jordan, and to have been awarded the modernization and expansion contract of their 3G and 2G networks,” said Tarek Saadi, President and Head of Ericsson North Middle East. “We are committed to working with Orange to provide them with tailored and adaptable solutions that can help them meet the demands of their increasing subscriber base, and we look forward to further cooperation with Orange in the future.”
As a multi-standard base station, the RBS 6000’s deployment is cost-effective and allows for the development of new, high-speed mobile broadband services such as mobile TV and web applications. The state-of-the-art base station will not only ensure a smooth transition to new technology for Orange in the future, but will also minimize operational expenses and reduce environmental impact.
“Orange Jordan and its predecessor, Jordan Telecom Group, have played a key role creating the Kingdom’s telecommunications backbone, commented Orange Jordan CEO Nayla Khawam. “We have made significant contributions to Jordan Telecom’s integration with regional and global markets, something we are very proud of. Now, with our increasing subscriber base and the resulting demands on our networks, it is essential that we work with the right partner to provide the most reliable and up-to-date services for our subscribers. “I am confident that we have found this partner in Ericsson.”
Ericsson has been the sole supplier for Orange Jordan’s telecommunication network requirements for the past 11 years, having built their initial GSM network and their 3G network. The successful partnership now continues with the modernization of Orange Jordan’s 2G network and the expansion of the 3G network with the roll-out scheduled to begin this quarter.
