Ooredoo, Kuwait’s fastest network, appointed Omar Al-Bassam as its Chief Human Resources and Administration Services Officer. Al-Bassam’s appointment is effective immediately. In his new position, Al-Bassam is tasked with translating the company’s strategy, vision and mission in its human resources and administration services department.

Ooredoo’s CEO and General Manager Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Thani expressed his firm belief in Al-Bassam’s ability to lead the company towards more successful milestones, stressing on the importance of the investment in its human capital. Al-Thani also noted that the appointment of the new CHRO is an extension to the company’s firm belief in investing in national talent, and promoting from within.

Al-Bassam has over 18 years of professional experience in Human Resources. He graduated from the University of Portsmouth, UK. He attended several leadership executive development programs in reputable business schools such as London Business School and Harvard Business School. Additionally, he holds certification from established entities such as SHL certification in occupational testing, assessment development & development center design, occupational personality questioning and competency based interviewing.

He joined Ooredoo Kuwait in March 2014, as the Director of Human Resources. During his tenure, he has successfully managed four divisions: Recruitment, Learning and Talent Management; HR Governance; Performance Management, and HR Systems. In addition, he has initiated significant cultural and transformational projects.
