Ooredoo Goodwill Journey sets out for Northern Wilayats
The Willayat of Rustaq witnessed the start of the second leg of the 12th Ooredoo Goodwill Journey, where 24 fasting volunteers have set out to inspire communities in Al Khabourah, Al Sunainah, Daba, Dhank, Manah and Musannah. Focused on enabling human growth, this year’s journey is providing people across Oman with the means to enhance their skills through sustainable learning initiatives as well as providing essential equipment, supplies and educational materials.
“The first leg of this 12th Ooredoo Goodwill Journey, around the southern provinces of Oman, was a tremendous success,” said Kumail Al Moosawi, Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer at Ooredoo. “The reception we received as we passed through each town and village, and even as we drove along the road was inspiring. The items, equipment, and gifts the volunteers delivered were enthusiastically received with many being put to immediate use. And along the way, we took the opportunity to look in on old friends and projects we had contributed to in previous years and it was very rewarding to see first-hand the positive impact our contributions have made”.
He added: “to mark the start of the Journey’s second leg, the Ooredoo Goodwill ambassadors called in at the Omani Women’s Association in Rustaq to initiate the establishment of a library for the benefit and enjoyment of its members. They also delivered kitchen equipment to the Hail and Saffron Project; a community initiative that provides catering for local events and celebrations and also offers cookery courses for women. In addition, the popular project was gifted with a computer lab to assist in vocational training and the Goodwill team visited the Beauty and Hairdressing School set up during the 2015 Goodwill Journey, presenting further equipment to help in the delivery of its programmes.”
After Roustaq the Goodwill Journey will head for Al Khabourah and from there to Al Sunainah, Daba, Dhank, Manah and Musanah. As it progresses, the Ooredoo volunteers will make a variety of presentations to towns and villages, charitable organisations and associations. While always focusing on championing social and economic development and making a sustainable impact, the Goodwill ambassadors will also distribute gifts from Ooredoo to children at every stop, to share the joy and happiness of the Holy Month.
In this its twelfth year, Ooredoo is proud of the Goodwill Journey’s legacy of compassion, empowerment and hope and looks forward to continuing to help build a better tomorrow in the current and future Goodwill Journeys during Ramadan.
