Ooredoo 5G boosts healthcare connectivity at Salalah Hospital
Ooredoo and Huawei have deployed an advanced indoor 5G network at Salalah Hospital, featuring the world's first commercial 3 TDD-band integrated LampSite.
Ooredoo, in partnership with Huawei, has introduced the advanced indoor 5G network to deliver faster, more reliable connectivity across Salalah Hospital. Powered by Huawei's world-first commercial 3 TDD-band integrated LampSite, the deployment establishes a new benchmark for digital healthcare infrastructure while creating a strong foundation for future technologies such as telemedicine, connected medical devices and smart hospital services.
Designed to deliver seamless high-performance indoor 5G coverage across the hospital, the network enables healthcare professionals to access critical digital systems more quickly, supports uninterrupted real-time communications and prepares the hospital for future technologies such as telemedicine, smart medical monitoring and connected healthcare devices.
At the heart of the deployment is Huawei's latest single-box LampSite solution, which combines five frequency bands into one compact unit instead of multiple separate systems. This simplifies deployment, reduces infrastructure requirements and makes the network easier to maintain while delivering consistent, high-capacity indoor 5G connectivity across the entire hospital.
The network also combines the 3.5 GHz and 2.3 GHz 5G spectrum bands to deliver peak download speeds of up to 2 Gbps on Ooredoo's live commercial network, giving healthcare teams the capacity to support increasingly data-intensive digital services while ensuring a smooth user experience.
Dr. Jihad Al Ansari, Chief Technology & Information Officer at Ooredoo, said, “Salalah Hospital represents an important milestone in how advanced connectivity can support better healthcare delivery. By deploying this next-generation indoor 5G network, we've created a faster, more reliable digital environment that helps healthcare professionals access critical information quickly and communicate seamlessly across the hospital. At the same time, the deployment demonstrates how innovative solutions such as Huawei's single-box LampSite architecture can simplify network rollout, improve operational efficiency and create a scalable foundation for the future of connected healthcare in Oman.”
Beyond delivering faster connectivity, the solution has also been designed with efficiency in mind. By integrating five frequency bands into a single compact unit, it requires fewer infrastructure components than traditional indoor network designs, making deployment simpler while reducing ongoing maintenance requirements. Intelligent energy-saving features further improve network efficiency by helping reduce power consumption without compromising performance.
The project supports the ambitions of Oman Vision 2040 by accelerating digital transformation across essential sectors and reinforces Ooredoo's continued commitment to building the digital infrastructure that powers smarter public services, stronger communities and future-ready healthcare.
