Adding to its list of technology accolades, Ooredoo has won the award for technology Solutions in the Telecommunications Sector at the Middle East Technology Excellence Awards 2022. Held at the International Business Awards 2022 gala event at the Shangri-La Dubai, the company Impressed judges with their range of business services and state-of-the-art technology used in its flagship Data Centers. Ooredoo has well and truly set the standard for efficient and secure cloud solutions across the region.

Their services have played a vital role in the Sultanate of Oman’s ongoing digital transformation by creating a cutting-edge digital IT architecture capable of delivering maximum productivity, cost-effective data security and providing a gateway for companies to participate in the evolution of technology across the nation.

Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Abri, Chief Technology and Information Officer at Ooredoo, said, “As the digital leader in Oman, we look to introduce new and innovative methods of enhancing our operations and services by adopting the latest technology to support customers, businesses and the nation through its journey of digital transformation.

“We invest heavily in digital transformative technologies that both broaden internet accessibility and strengthen digital communications across the country, in order to achieve the goals of Oman’s Vision 2040 and become a knowledge-based technologically-advanced society,” Dr. Al Abri added.

In 2021, Ooredoo opened its new 7,000 square metre facility, just 12 months after construction began – a new record for Ooredoo. The three-storey facility is situated in Boushar, a prime location on a hill-top in the heart of Muscat, Oman’s capital, enhancing its security and removing the risk of flooding. Three more data centres are currently under construction, in Barka, Salalah and Sohar, to support customers by safely storing data within the country and helping businesses upgrade their service level as they grow while always providing the benefit of seamless and secure connectivity.

Implementing top-notch cloud-based technology within the Data Centre allows businesses to stay connected and always be prepared. The on-call, locally-based technical support also means that companies save on costs and time to work more effectively.
