Muriya’s Hawana Salalah Destination Welcomes More Than 10,000 European Tourists To Dhofar This Winter Season

With Oman re-opening its borders to vaccinated travellers without prior approval, Muriya’s Hawana Salalah, Oman’s largest integrated tourism complex is welcoming European travellers for the winter season in the Governorate of Dhofar. With a surge of interest among domestic, regional, and international markets for the concept of resort living, Hawana Salalah is collaborating with international tour operators to promote Dhofar as the most popular vacation destination in the region. Hawana Salalah is expected to welcome more than ten thousand tourists by end of 2021 as more international travellers flock to the region’s only tropical getaway.
“Since its inception, Muriya has been constantly working diligently to contribute to the growth of the tourism sector in Oman in line with the Government’s diversification strategy. We have been hard at work for years with tour operators to attract direct flights from European cities to Salalah to help increase the flow of tourists to the entire area, but the unprecedented circumstances that the world went through in the past two years has put a hold on international travel,” said Ossama Aboualam, CEO of Muriya. “With Oman easing travel restrictions to enable more seamless travel to the Sultanate, we are witnessing more demand from European markets to travel to Salalah as well as other international destinations and that is good news for everyone in the tourism and hospitality industry.”
Hawana Salalah offers tourists, visitors, and home buyers a unique destination that is a celebration of Dhofar’s rich heritage, legendary culture, and enchanting spirit. Brimming with life all year-round and the winter season is no exception, Hawana Salalah boasts a picturesque 170-berth marina, surrounded by a variety of hospitality establishments including the 577-room Fanar Hotel & Residences, the 87-room Juweira Boutique Hotel and the beachfront 19-hut, Souly Lodge. Another key hotel in the destination is the the 422-room Salalah Rotana Resort, which will reopen in December 2021. In addition, Hawana Salalah creates a vibrant atmosphere for guests to enjoy a wide range of restaurants, shops and leisure facilities. The Hawana Aquapark, open on weekends, is a major aquatic attraction for local and international visitors featuring 65,600 sqm of pure adventure and fun as well as a food court.
The low-density and ever evolving destination is complemented by a number of freehold real estate projects offering flexible payment plans for people looking to make a home or for investment including the communities of Forest Island, Hawana Lagoons, Laguna Gardens, Marina Bay, and Signature Villas. Joining this thriving destination is the Laguna Gardens – Azure project, which was launched in September 2021, where exclusive living meets a resort lifestyle full of discovery. Designed as a celebration of the finer things in life, the new project features private gardens and swimming pools overlooking the lagoon and it includes one-bedroom twin villas, as well as two- and three-bedroom stand-alone villas, with brilliantly designed spacious living spaces, vast gardens with unparalleled views across the lagoons.
Since its inception, Muriya has consistently explored ways to create long-term value for the tourism, real estate and leisure sectors. The company contributed to the Sultanate’s tourism strategy by signing with European tour operators in 2016 to attract more travellers to Oman in general and Dhofar in specific. By providing a unique proposition of hospitality, real estate and leisure all in one, Muriya has established itself as a pioneer in the local, regional and international marketplace.
