MoF Launches "Ramadan Is Tolerance" Initiative Targeting 1,000 Workers

In line with the spirit and values of the Holy Month of Ramadan and advocating good deeds and compassion among different strata of society, MoF organised a series of Ramadan initiatives and events recently, the most prominent being "Ramadan is Tolerance" program targeting 1,000 workers in Muhaisnah area in Dubai. The ministry provided suhoor meals to workers over the last 10 days of Ramadan, and held lectures and a Ramadan forum to raise awareness of the cause among ministry employees.  Additionally, the initiative "Your Eid is on Us", was launched in order to promote the values of tolerance and giving.

Commenting on the initiative, H.E. Maryam Mohammed Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Financial Management, noted that Ramadan is an occasion to spread the message of compassion and brotherhood inspired by the virtues of the Holy Month. "The Ministry of Finance is always keen to launch community, humanitarian and philanthropic initiatives that reflect the UAE's efforts to foster a culture of giving and tolerance among the various segments of society.”

H.E. added: “The initiatives during this Ramadan were diverse. We distributed suhoor meals aimed at promoting the values of social harmony and compassion among all strata of society, while a group iftar with all ministry employees from different career levels was designed to reiterate the spirit of unity that prevails within MoF. We have ensured that the initiatives during the Holy Month include activities and lectures that raise awareness and link the concept of tolerance to the noble values of Islam.”

In line with the UAE’s 2019 Year of Tolerance, the ministry organised a religious lecture titled "Tolerance in Islam", which was attended by a large group of ministry employees of various nationalities and professional levels. The lecture was organised in cooperation with the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments and focused on explaining the concept of tolerance as a fundamental Islamic value. Furthermore, the lecture stressed the importance of tolerance in building cohesive societies that respect one another.

The ministry's activities during the Holy Month included organising a family lecture titled "The importance of strengthening familial relations in the work environment", in cooperation with the General Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police, during which they stressed that work environment should be characterised by cooperation and brotherhood amongst employees so as to achieve their happiness, thereby improving performance.

The ministry’s Ramadan activities ended with the “Your Eid is on us” initiative, which included the participation of the ministry’s leadership and employees. The initiative gave ‘Eidiyahs’ or Eid Gifts to ministry users, as well as group of municipal workers from the old Dubai area on the occasion of Eid-Al-Fitr.
