KIA launches Amateur Five-a-Side football competition in the UAE
Al Majid Motors Co., the sole distributor of KIA in the UAE, announced the kick off the ‘Kia champ into the Arena’ 2014 football competition. The competition will take place April 8th – 11th in association with the Dubai Sports Council at Dubai’s Al Shabab Club. Six lucky football fans from the UAE will be travelling to this year’s FIFA World Cup tournament, courtesy of KIA.
The ‘KIA champ into the Area’ Competition will include a major five-a-side football tournament for amateur players in the country, with the winning team - and its substitute – receiving an all-expenses-paid trip to watch the FIFA quarter-final game in Brazil this summer.
“As a major sponsor of this year’s FIFA World Cup, KIA is delighted to be able to make the dreams of six football fans and amateur players in the UAE come true, with the ‘KIA Champ into the Arena’ contest,” said Mohammed Khader, President of Al Majid Motors Co, KIA. “The five-a-side competition is being held in the same spirit of the world’s biggest sporting event and will see the winning team receive their tickets to the FIFA quarter-final game, which takes place on June 6, 2014.”
“Although there can only be one winning team from ‘Kia Champ into the Arena’ who will win flights, accommodation and tickets to the quarter-final qualifications, we have made sure that everyone participating will have a thoroughly enjoyable time simply by taking part,” said Khader. “This is every football lover and amateur player’s opportunity to show what they can do with football. Their footballing skills and teamwork might just see them flying off to Brazil in the summer.”
‘Kia Champ into the Arena’ is open to amateur teams from across the UAE; with the condition that all team members should be eligible to travel to the quarter-final game should they win. They must also be aged over 18 years and have never played in a professional or semi-professional capacity before. It is hoped that the contest will attract at least 32 teams that will match the World Cup tournament structure.
