JSC "Rusatom Service" signed a framework agreement with the NPP "Paks" for equipment supply
On October 27th, JSC "Rusatom Service" and ZAO NPP MVM "Paks" (Hungary) signed a framework agreement for the supply of equipment and spare parts for the maintenance and upgrading of four existing units of the Hungarian NPP Paks.
The agreement is a framework which defines the basic principles of interaction between the parties, while the terms and conditions of supply will be specified in respective appendices to this Agreement.
The signing of the agreement took place within the framework of the working visit of NPP Paks’ delegation to the Novovoronezh NPP.
On behalf of "Rusatom Service" the agreement was signed by its General Director Eugene Salkov , while the signatory on behalf of ZAO NPP MVM "Paks" was Istvan Hamvas, General Director.
"This year, the Russian-Hungarian cooperation in nuclear energy has turned 60, and we are glad that our cooperation is not only continuing successfully but is extending to such areas as maintenance and modernization of nuclear power plants,” said Eugene Salkov.
"The signed framework agreement on service maintenance and modernization of the Paks NPP is a new milestone of productive cooperation, which has been carried out over the 30 years of the NPP’s operation, also spanning the power capacity boost and the service life extension of Paks," said Istvan Hamvas.
JSC "Rusatom Service" is part of the electric power division of the State Corporation "Rosatom". The company acts as an industry integrator of the service proposal at the operation stage of NPPs abroad, also providing maintenance, repair and modernization of Russian-designed nuclear power plants abroad.
The Paks NPP is the only functioning nuclear power plant in Hungary, situated in 100 kilometers from Budapest, 5 km from the town of Paks. The station is a Soviet designed, where all 4 reactors are of the VVER-440 type. The nuclear power plant supplies more than 50 percent of all electricity generated in the country.
