ISAS students demonstrate the importance of community care towards senior citizens
In its efforts to uphold timeless values that go beyond academics, the International School of Arts & Science (ISAS) organized a voluntary initiative where students visited The Family Gathering Centre in Dubai and had first-hand experiences of real-life responsibilities. The visit, which was organized for the third consecutive year, aimed at emphasizing the importance of senior care through regular interaction with the community.
The Family Gathering Centre, which was launched by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), witnessed 30 students from grades 11 and 12, participate in various activities aimed at reassuring the elderly of the attention and love they deserve.
Mrs Samira Al Awadhi, Activities Coordinator at ISAS said: “Visiting the center for elderly citizens was an emotional and humbling experience for the children. Close interaction with the members enabled them to absorb their valuable wisdom. We are confident that this special experience will contribute to the overall development of their personality and make them responsible citizens. ”
The students of ISAS also organized brainteasers such as riddle, puzzles, and trivia - aimed at enhancing cognitive abilities of elderly patients, as well as held a gift-giving session to the make the elderly patients feel cherished and remembered.
“It is always a pleasure to welcome the students of International School of Arts & Science. Our efforts are dedicated towards integrating the elderly in the society, and such voluntary initiatives by community members only strengthens our commitment and help achieve our goals. The activities planned by the students of ISAS is a clear testament of their dedication and willingness towards making the elderly feel welcomed and appreciated,” added Mrs Salwa Al Suwaidi, Director of the Family Gathering Centre.
