With investments in the region’s telecommunications field on the rise, the future of local communication services took center stage as Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology, ICT, solutions provider, teamed up with Infonetics Research and other industry authorities to host the third annual Huawei Core Business Transformation Forum in Dubai, UAE, illustrating how operators can further evolve their communication offerings amidst a rapidly changing ICT environment.

Held under the theme of “Changing Communications, Creating Value”, the recently concluded annual forum welcomed over one hundred and fifty delegates from across Middle East, Africa and Eastern European regions.

Hot topics discussed at this year’s forum including the future of voice over LTE (VoLTE), monetizing network capabilities, customer analytics & policy control, the future of mobile broadband network management, as well as the burgeoning market for telecom managed-services outsourcing. A large part of this year’s event was also reserved for operators and other industry players to share their experiences in specific technology deployment.

Speaking at the two-day forum, Dr. Wang Chenglu, President of Core Network Product Line, Huawei, noted: “Information and communication network worldwide are converging around a core set of technology standards and platforms, which has in turn raised the importance of cross-industry collaboration when delivering a quality experience to the end user. Underlying technology trends such as service mobility, big data, and software-defined networking are all guiding our industry towards a new landscape. Through events like the Huawei Core Business Transformation Forum, leaders from across the ICT ecosystem are able to come together and capitalize on such opportunities; both within the Middle East and beyond.”

In addition to inspiring keynotes and panel discussions, one of the forum’s exhibition halls was dedicated exclusively to demoing Huawei VoLTE, voive over LTE, solution, strategies for better monetizing telecom services through CaaS, communication as a service, and SmartPCC solution, platforms that Huawei has helped pioneer over recent months.

Stephane Teralfrom of Infonetics Research said, “Today’s ICT innovations have significantly changed the way in which people live and work, creating new digital economies while completely realigning traditional sectors. By supporting platforms like the Huawei Core Business Transformation Forum, we are better able to understand these changes and formulate solutions that will benefit the wider society as a whole.”

This year’s event marks the third installment of Huawei’s annual Core Business Transformation Forum and the first time it has been conducted in the Middle East. The geographic selection is reflective of Huawei’s continued emphasis on the region, which last year alone contributed $2.08 billion to the company’s global revenues and saw an 18% jump from the previous year. Such growth has in part been attributed to Huawei’s pursuit of a comprehensive “Cloud-Pipe-Device” business strategy providing end-to-end ICT solutions to telecom operators, enterprises, as well as consumers, a core differentiator for the company globally and in the Middle East.
