ALBAWABA- Sudanese army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan reaffirmed on Thursday that the military will press ahead with its fight against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), declaring that the ongoing conflict is “the battle of the Sudanese people.”

Speaking to commanders of mobile units, al-Burhan vowed that the army “will not back down from defeating the rebellion and securing the Sudanese state,” adding that the armed forces “will avenge the deaths in El Fasher, El Geneina, and El Jazira.”

Meanwhile, Major General Mohamed Mohamed al-Hassan al-Saouri, commander of Sudan’s Northern State, said the army maintains full control over the region, emphasizing that “the country will not fall” to rebel hands.

He made the remarks while receiving a convoy of aid and logistical support from employees of the Radio and Television Authority, praising what he described as “successive victories achieved by the armed forces on all fronts.”

The renewed declarations come days after the RSF, led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (known as Hemedti), seized control of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur. The takeover triggered a mass displacement of civilians and drew condemnation from international and humanitarian organizations, which accused the RSF of committing grave violations and atrocities against civilians.

The RSF has denied widespread abuses but acknowledged isolated incidents, saying internal committees have been formed to investigate and hold those responsible accountable.
