HSBC middle east scoops regional capital markets honour

HSBC won top honours in four categories of the widely-watched annual IFR awards, which recognise excellence in capital markets.
The wins included best ‘EMEA Equity House’ which hailed HSBC’s ‘established presence across the Middle East’ and cited the bank’s experience of ‘regularly running the most important deals in EMEA’.
“In a very difficult year for deal making almost everywhere outside of our region, 2022 was a landmark year for capital markets in the Middle East,” said Samer Deghali, Co-Head, Capital Financing & Investment Banking Coverage for HSBC MENAT.
“With the perfect conditions for so many critical listings in a relatively short space of time, it was our deep heritage and experience in this regional allied with our ability to connect international investors with opportunities which, as the award summary says, put us ‘top of the pile’.”
The end of 2022 was also the second calendar year in a row HSBC finished on top of the equity capital markets league tables* for the Middle East.
Presented at a ceremony in London on 27 March, the International Financial Review awards are judged by industry specialists based on award submissions and presentations from nominees among banks, advisers and issuers.
In addition to best EMEA Equity House, HSBC was named best Europe Investment-Grade Corporate Bond House, Asia-Pacific Loan House and ESG Financing House.
