Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University holds ‘An Hour with The Chancellor’ session with staff

Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University, HBMeU, a leader in the field of e-Learning and quality management in the Arab World, has recently concluded a session titled “An Hour with The Chancellor”, which was part of the series of activities held in April in line with the social activities program known as “Tawasol”. A total of 28 administrative and executive staff attended the inaugural session, which provided an opportunity for staff to have an informal meeting with HBMeU Chancellor Dr. Mansoor Al Awar to discuss leadership skills and exchange ideas and views. 

The participants asked a wide range of questions during the hour-long session related to the university’s vision and topics on leadership skills and styles. With the success of the inaugural session, the participants have requested HBMeU to make it a regular activity for the staff. 

Fahad Al Saadi, Resources and Institutional Capabilities, Assistant Chancellor said: “The university endeavors to regularly communicate and interact with the staff as part of continuing efforts to enhance the internal environment at HBMeU and to ensure that the university’s goals and objectives are aligned with the expectations of the staff and faculty members. The recent session proved to be an excellent venue for the administrative and executive staff to directly engage with Dr. Mansoor, as the staff got the opportunity to discuss about best practices and participate in a healthy exchange of ideas. The success of this activity further reaffirms the commitment to be responsive to the needs of all members of the university, including staff, faculty and learners. We will definitely organize similar activities to promote stronger relations and promote open communication within the university.” 

From their side, the employees expressed their appreciation of the management’s efforts to promote regular interaction among different stakeholders of the university. 

Alia Murad, Admission, Executive, said: “This session was like a family gathering. I was always under the impression that not everyone could approach the Chancellor directly, but I was proven wrong with this activity.” 

Hamda Bin Jarn, Staff Services and Relations Executive, said: “It was a very helpful activity. We received important advice from the Chancellor and we also got to know him better, which was the most important thing to me.” 

Yasmin Masoud, Administrative Executive, said: “First of all I want to thank the HR team for their efforts in making HBMeU a great place to work. The session was so inspiring, we really felt close to our upper management as we shared our thoughts, problems and expectations.” 

Riaz Ibrahim, Senior Accountant, Financial: “‘An Hour with The Chancellor’ was excellent as it allowed me to overcome my reluctance to communicate with Chancellor because of its open and informal setting, which would not be possible in any other ordinary business day.” 

Mohammed Al Quadra, IT Support Engineer: “’An hour with the Chancellor’ gave me some guidelines on how to plan for my career and work towards it. Also, I do appreciate that Dr. Mansoor said that he gives attention to each employee by checking his/her improvement.” 

Sunish Nanu, Sales and Distribution, Executive: “An hour with the Chancellor’ is one of the best initiatives that HR has come up with. This gave an opportunity for the staff to know more about Dr. Mansoor Al Awar as a person and it had helped me personally to learn and appreciate some personal skills that he has used in his successful career as an outstanding leader. Such an event has to be organized regularly because it will help us to boost our morale in terms of personal skills and achievements.”
