Hala Badri visits Reading Box 2022

Within an atmosphere that reflects the extent of Dubai’s interest in literature, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has opened its windows to the world of reading through its Reading Box 2022 initiative held at City Centre Mirdif until 28 October.

As part of her efforts to support literature, Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, accompanied by Dr Saeed Mubarak bin Kharbash, CEO of the Arts & Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, and ALL Dubai Public Library branch managers, visited the Reading Box initiative, which falls under the framework of the School of Life project. She toured some of the discussions and interactive workshops offered within the programme, which motivates the public to walk the paths of knowledge and opens up new intellectual horizons for them.

Badri was also introduced to the books launched on the sidelines of the activities, which are in line with the National Literacy Strategy 2016-2026 that aims at promoting cultural values in society and supporting all fields of culture, including arts and literature, as a soft power that reflects the aspirations of Dubai and the UAE.

Badri affirmed the importance of establishing a culture of reading for all members of society, and its impact on creating a generation of readers, capable of leading the development process in the country, noting the role that reading plays in consolidating the foundations of the UAE creative economy. She spoke of building bridges of knowledge, and creating new development paths based on knowledge and innovation, calling at the same time to the need to pay attention to such initiatives and enhance their presence in public places, because of their positive repercussions.

Reading Box 2022 is open to the public, with it a rich itinerary, many presented by Emirati and resident authors, providing an insightful view of the cultural scene in Dubai and the UAE.
