Georgetown University in Qatar Invites Future Applicants to Be Students for a Day

Prospective students will have an opportunity to get an early taste of campus life, thanks to an upcoming event at Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q). From classes to campus tours and meetings with Georgetown professors, the ‘Day in the Life of a Georgetown Student’ event will offer a unique experience to interested applicants.
The student-centered event, which will be held on Wednesday, January 17 from 4:45 p.m., allows visitors to learn more about student life and academic programs from alumni and current students. They can sample one of GU-Q’s four majors by attending classes, and ask questions about student clubs, studying abroad, and life beyond the classroom.
“At ‘A Day in the Life of a Georgetown Student’, we offer a first-hand experience of what it’s really like to study at Georgetown,” said Admissions Officer Mariam Lachin (SFS '15), one of the organizers of the event. “You can go to class, meet the professors and students you’ll see on a daily basis, and hear how our graduates have used their Georgetown degrees to make a difference in the world.”
As the event takes place ahead of GU-Q’s February 1 application deadline, there will also be a question and answers session for interested students to find out more about the process of applying to study at the University.
GU-Q offers a unique inter-disciplinary Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service degree, using the same internationally-ranked curriculum as Georgetown’s main campus in Washington, D.C. Students can major in Culture and Politics, International Economics, International History, or International Politics, and complement their education with a minor in Arabic or certificates in Arab and Regional Studies, American Studies, or Media and Politics.
The event is free and open to the public. While registration is not required, visitors are encouraged to sign up on the GU-Q website (https://qatar.georgetown.edu).
