ALBAWABA - Bahraini Public Prosecution sentenced three people to life over accusations of spying with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC).

Bahrain's official news agency (BNA) said Tuesday, "In the case of two separate espionage incidents. Life imprisonment for three defendants for their espionage with the Iranian military to carry out 'hostile and terrorist acts' against the Kingdom of Bahrain and to harm its interests."

Information confirmed by the investigations of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Evidence that the first defendant, who is wanted for security reasons and lives outside the country and who works for the benefit of the Iranian army, recruited the second defendant, who is present in Bahrain, to provide him with information about vital places in the Kingdom in order to target them during the brutal Iranian aggression.

The third defendant is accused of communicating with an account run by the IRGC and providing it with videos of the heinous attacks on vital facilities in Bahrain, in addition to sending a number of locations and coordinates of vital places inside the country to be targeted by the enemy, which threatens the security and safety of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the lives of citizens and residents therein.

Last month, the High Criminal Court in Bahrain issued rulings in several separate cases, sentencing nine defendants to life imprisonment and two others to three years in prison on charges related to espionage with the Iranian army, as well as sentencing three others accused of supporting Iranian attacks targeting the Kingdom.

In addition, five blasts were reported around the port city of Bandar Abbas, near the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's state television announced Tuesday.

"A few minutes ago, five explosions were heard west of Bandar Abbas," state TV said. No more details have been reported yet.
