‘Move it, Lose it’ is the new watchword for employees at Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), a wholly-owned entity of the Government of Dubai. A healthy living campaign initiated in association with VLCC, the leading wellness brand in the Middle East and South Asia, the initiative aims to enable the employees of ENOC adopt healthy weight loss practices and lose unwanted weight the right way.

As part of the ‘Move it, Lose it’ programme, VLCC will be providing weight loss assistance to ENOC employees through nutritional counselling, body composition analysis and more. The campaign will run for a period of 3 months, ending in February 2015, when the employee who records the most weight loss will be recognised and rewarded by ENOC.

The campaign aims to encourage healthy living among the employees of ENOC and their families. The participants will be closely monitored by VLCC experts to ensure they adhere to healthy weight loss practices. The participants are also required to visit a VLCC Centre at least once a fortnight for measurements and continuous guidance. The initiative evolved from a suggestion by an ENOC employee, Mansoor Al Kabi, as part of the organisation’s Suggestion Scheme.

Commenting on the campaign, Waddah Ghanem, Director – EHSQ Compliance, ENOC said: “ENOC places the highest emphasis on promoting the welfare and healthy lifestyle of our employees. This well-directed programme, developed with the support of our Occupational Health Services function will enable our employees to achieve weight loss in a healthy manner. With lifestyle diseases on the rise, it is important that our employees are aware of the potential health implications of obesity and take the right steps.”

Tala Al Ansari, Manager Business Transformation Projects & the INNOV∞ Programme, ENOC, said: “The initiative was evolved from ENOC’s Suggestion Scheme, which then turned into a great campaign thanks to employee Involvement. This is yet another way for ENOC to underline its commitment to its staff.”

Having conducted a complete body composition analysis of the ENOC employees, the campaign is now in its second phase. The employees are currently being guided on good living practices by wellness and nutrition experts at VLCC. The focus of the campaign is on various aspects of healthy living from diet to sleep and simple exercises and activities that can be easily included into daily life.

Prafull Dwivedi, CEO at VLCC International LLC, said, “We are very pleased to partner with ENOC in this campaign and have our experts on board to assist each and every participating employee of ENOC to lose weight and adopt health living practices.”

“It is wonderful to see such an initiative coming from individuals themselves. The awareness about obesity is growing and people are beginning to reflect upon their own health and of those around them. In the current scenario, where obesity is at an all-time high in the region as well as across the world, it is highly encouraging to see such interests coming from people,” he remarked.

The WHO statistics state that overweight and obesity are leading risks for global deaths, with over 3.4 million deaths among adults attributed to obesity or overweight ever year. Obesity and overweight are defined by World Health Organisation (WHO) as an accumulation of excess body fat to an extent that may impair health.

As a leading player in the wellness domain, VLCC is present through its VLCC Slimming, Beauty & Fitness Centres, the VLCC Institutes of Beauty & Nutrition and the VLCC Personal Care line of skin-care, body-care and hair-care products.
