ENOC strengthens focus on Emiratisation with ‘Ajyaal’ and ‘Mawaheb’ programmes
In line with the UAE Vision 2021 to promote human capital development and to support the UAE’s goal for 2013 to strengthen Emiratisation, Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) has rolled out its ‘Ajyaal’ and ‘Mawaheb’ programmes for UAE nationals. At a graduation ceremony held recently, 39 Emiratis, who completed their training, were honoured.
Organised by the Career & Competency Development Department, under ENOC’s Human Resources, in partnership with Zayed University, the two annual leadership programmes involve 12-month trainings that are tailored to develop the skillsets of Emiratis in the company. Since its inception in 2010, a total of 120 UAE nationals have graduated at these programmes, and currently play a significant role as part of the workforce with ENOC and other entities.
Saeed Khoory, ENOC’s Chief Executive Officer said: “ENOC is committed to nurturing future leaders, who will contribute to a knowledge-based economy. This is in line with the strategic vision outlined by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to stress on Emiratisation during 2013. The comprehensive trainings that ENOC provides its employees will drive them to succeed in their careers.”
The ‘Mawaheb’ programme targets talented managers and focuses on enhancing their leadership capabilities through mentoring, specialised business simulation workshops, leadership and management certification from UK’s Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM), and face-to-face interactions with CEOs and different business heads. ‘Ajyaal’ follows a similar development programme targeting supervisory level professionals in the organisation.
ENOC also offers fresh graduates a one year programme called ‘Tadreeb,’ which is designed to develop the participant’s knowledge skills & competencies in the early stages of his or her career in alignment with a structured and systematic Technical & Behavioural Competency Framework.
Another key component of ENOC’s Emiratisation-focused CSR activities is the National Development Programme, ‘Tatweer,’ which has opened a dedicated technical training centre to nurture Emirati nationals for skilled jobs. Tatweer is a competency-based basic skill building programmes targeted at high school level staff members with limited qualifications and practically no experience.
ENOC has also introduced the Retail Site-in-Charge programme, the first of its kind initiative under Tatweer. It aims at encouraging young UAE nationals, mainly those who have completed high school, to undertake a retail management programme that helps them to progress in their career in operations. It covers the full spectrum of operational aspects including how to manage a retail site and includes hands-on training. The 138-day intensive training programme prepares them to perform all roles at retail sites including administrative, supervisory, leadership and safety, among others.
In addition to nurturing basic and advanced skills, ENOC also offers a leadership development programme for Emiratis through its ‘Imtiaz’ initiative. The programme leverages the expertise for renowned global entities such as INSEAD and MELA to offer advanced skills in best practice methodologies and building leadership skills.
ENOC is committed to further strengthen the pillars of Emiratisation, and plans to train more Emiratis under different programmes enabling them to become active participants in nation-building and evolve as full-rounded professionals.
