Emaar honours winners of 6th Emirates Classic Car Festival

Global property developer Emaar Properties marked the culmination of the 6th Emirates Classic Car Festival, with a spectacular awards ceremony.
The five-day Emirates Classic Car Festival featured over 250 classic cars and motorcycles, the largest showcase to date. The cars on display ranged from 1928 to 1984, from Corvette Sting Rays to Bentleys and Rolls Royce.
A highlight of the Festival was a Pre-World War II Mercedes, with a super-charged engine, from 1923; and the first car ever made under the Mercedes Patent Wagon, 1982.
Winners of the 6th Emirates Classic Car Festival were evaluated on the basis of upkeep, value, originality, uniqueness, finishes, and visual aesthetics. The classic car winners are: Tariq Al Qemzi for his Buick Riviera 1972 (The UAE Award); Phil McGovern for his 1957 Volkswagen Beetle (The Dubai Award); Radwan Oghle for his Mercedes 280 SE Brabus Classic (Best of Show); John Campbell for his Morris Minor 1971 (The Emaar Award); Max Morley for his Volkswagen Camper (Classic Truck Award); Dr. Mohammed Bin Sulayem for his Mercedes Benz Patent Wagon 1886 (Pre-World War II Award); Rafic Mahmoud for his Chevrolet Bel Air 1953 (Heritage Car); Rainer Dilles for his Corvette Stingray 1971 (Modern Classic); Hamdi Kerem Turkmen for his Cadillac Eldorado (American Car Award); Imtiaz Sheikh for his Mercedes 220S Convertible (European Car Award); Dr. Ramez Baassiri for his Jaguar E Type (British Car Award); Mohammed El Tahiri and Abdalla Al Mazini for their Mercedes Benz 280SL Pagoda (Club Merit Award); Hassan Mohammed for his Cadillac DeVille (First People’s Choice); Talal Al Rajab for his Maybach (Second People’s Choice); His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan for his Fiat 500L (Micro Car); Mitchel Perreira for his GMC (Custom Truck); His Highness Sheikh Hasher Bin Maktoum Al Maktoum for his Piaggio Vespa (Classic Motorcyle); Dr. Ahlam Zahawi for her Saxon 1917 (Encouragement Award); and Imtiaz Shaikh for his Fiat Abhart Sagato (Special Coach Works Award).

A thriving destination, Downtown Dubai is also home to some of the most popular festivities that demonstrate the city’s capability to execute large-scale events, such as the celebrations of UAE’s right to host the World Expo 2020; the New Year’s Eve Gala Celebrations; The Parade – Downtown Dubai, UAE National Day; and the Dubai Festival of Lights. www.mydowntowndubai.com
