In line with its preparations for participating in the 31st edition of GITEX Technology Week to be held at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre between October 9 and 13, Dubai eGovernment Department has unveiled that 26 government entities will join its 2,300-square metre stand, which will be divided into areas as per the 2000-plus eServices provided by these entities to all segments of society including citizens, residents, businesses and visitors.

Dubai eGovernment’s participation in the annual event comes as part of its commitment to keep pace with the latest developments in technology for supporting the emirate’s eTransformation; in which local departments play a major role in implementation of the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, that Dubai continue to be a major emirate in the region based on a knowledge economy, as it seeks to make life easier for its residents by providing them with such government eServices that enable them to complete their government transactions anytime and anywhere , thereby helping save their valuable time and effort.

Dubai eGovernment’s platform has been specially designed to enable the participating government entities to optimally define and promote their services in line with its slogan of “Customer First” and its strategy of combining 1) centralization in terms of formulating policies and standards and providing core services, government resources planning systems and government information network with the aim of giving government entities the opportunity to focus on discharging their tasks directly to the public and wasting no more effort and money as a result of building the same systems in several places, and 2) decentralization where government entities design and launch their services in line with their internal structures and the needs of their customers, benefiting from the shared services that Dubai eGovernment provides to the public through effective channels.

“Dubai eGovernment’s participation in previous editions of GITEX Technology Week has been very successful and we aim to sustain the momentum this year. The event will provide a great opportunity to be acquainted with the latest services, developments and trends that will be vital in our ongoing efforts to establish an integrated digital knowledge-based society,” said H.E. Ahmed Bin Humaidan, Director General of Dubai eGovernment. He added: “Moreover, our participation is coupled with our keenness on coordinating with the participating government entities to improve the performance of our platform for optimally showcasing government eServices to the targeted customers.”

“Through our platform at the current edition of Gitex Technology Week, we seek to demonstrate how Dubai eGovernment and government entities work together to ensure harmony under one umbrella in a bid to ensure connectivity and collaboration among all the entities for the ultimate goal of meeting the needs of all users and giving an ideal example of a connected government, particularly with this large number of government entities participating under our umbrella. We will also provide a series of presentations to explain the packages of core eServices offered to the public and government entities, said Bin Humaidan.

Bin Humaidan pointed out that Dubai eGovernment will be participating at GITEX Week under the theme “Mobile Services and Applications”, which underlines the growing demand for smart and mobile applications across different Dubai government departments. Visitors will have an opportunity during the five-day event to be acquainted with various smart and mobile services and applications offered by different government departments such as mPay, which allows the public to settle payments by simply sending an SMS to 4488; mDubai, which makes it easy for the public and businesses to follow up their transactions with government departments; and Tasaheel, which allows employees to communicate with the government department they are working in to inquire about their salaries and dues by sending an SMS to 4433 or by calling the contact centre on 800477, he said.
