Dubai Economy Shuts Downs 2 Shops and Finds 31 Violations of COVID-19 Guidelines

Dubai Economy shut down two shops for overcrowding and issued 31 fines after detecting various violations of the precautionary guidelines against COVID-19 during field inspections held yesterday in open markets across Naif, Souq Al Kabeer, Al Rifaa, Al Fahidi, Hor Al Anza, Sabkha, Al Dhagaya and various shopping malls in the emirate. The violations were mostly related to face masks or physical distancing.
Overall, the inspections showed that 1,207 establishments fully complied with the guidelines. The violating establishments mainly dealt with fragrances and cosmetics, inbound tours, general trading, jewellery, retail, mobile phones and accessories, textiles, building materials, tobacco, and also included department stores, supermarkets, money exchanges.
Dubai Economy said it will continue its inspections along with its various partners, reminding that any violation or malpractice found by the inspectors or may be reported by the public will not be tolerated.
Dubai Economy also directed traders to strictly adhere to the precautionary measures and called on the public to report any violation or harmful practices they come across through the Dubai Consumer App available on Apple, Google and Huawei stores, by calling 600545555, or via the Consumerrights.ae website.
