Dubai Customs and Tanmia join hands to boost Emiratization

In line with Dubai Customs’ commitment to meet the goals, aspirations and vision of the Emiratisation initiatives; a delegation from the DC Human Resources Department headed by Khamis Al Mehari, Acting Recruitment Manager, accompanied by Abdul Aziz Al Dajani, Recruitment Officer, recently paid a visit to the National Human Resources Development and Employment Authority (Tanmia). They were received by HE Mohammed Matar Al Marri, Director General of the Authority and Ms. Moza Isa, Employer Relations Supervisor at Tanmia.
The visit was highly valued and the DC initiatives geared towards localization were acclaimed. Both parties discussed ways and mechanisms of bilateral cooperation in this area. Mohammed Al Marri conveyed Tanmiya’s willingness to provide and facilitate all means of support and services to enhance localization.
Accordingly, it was agreed to provide Dubai Customs with an access to the Authority’s database of national jobseekers with a privilege to post job openings and headhunt qualified candidates as per DC requirements. A liaison officer from DC’s HR Department will be designated for the purpose of better expediting mutual communication and coordination and easing the recruitment process.
The visiting delegation received a brief on handling the new Tanmia website-based system, with respect to processes of job postings and CVs search and retrieval. The meeting also touched upon the current 60 Inspector vacancies recently announced by Dubai Customs to fill the needs of its different centres.
Also on the agenda were “Training for Employment” programs offered by Tanmia as well as a proposal to hold a recruitment open day at Tanmia headquarters specially for Dubai Customs, to be launched after announcing those vacancies on the Authority’s website.
“The agreement comes in an effort to reinforce collaboration and synergy amongst local and federal government entities. It also portrays a positive initiative on the part of Dubai Customs seeking to open new channels for hiring experienced and academically qualified nationals to assume vacant roles,” said Khamis Al Mehari
Dubai Customs is well ahead on Emiratisation, with a staggering 84% of its staff being local in 2013, he added.
Background Information
Dubai Customs
Dubai Customs is one of the leading government departments taking part in enhancing sustainable development and promoting Dubai’s image worldwide, turning it into a principal capital, business and tourism destination, as it facilitates smooth movement of legitimate trade and leverages economic and social development, the matter which is consistent with its slogan stating "gateway to Dubai’s prosperity", because prosperity is usually based on free trade through a safe, fast and practical environment to meet the needs of people and adapt to their requirements. This in addition to DC’s main role to protect society and borders against those who try to smuggle prohibited substances to or through Dubai threatening the community safety and security.
