Dubai Customs holds its first volunteerism assembly

Dubai Customs held its first volunteerism assembly under the motto “A Positive Social Approach “at the Dome hall auditorium at DC’s Port Rashid Headquarters, in the presence of Buti Al Jumairi, Executive Director of Human Resources, Finance and Administration Affairs. He was joined by a host of volunteer enthusiasts  of Dubai Customs employees.

The gathering is directed towards establishing a greater social work spirit among the human capital of Dubai Customs,  and to ensure the positive investment of time and resources in order to push the reel of social development. In addition, the move aims to achieve sustainable development and focus the efforts of the qualified and trained cadres to better serve the society.

On his opening speech, Al Jumairi hailed the initiative of forming the volunteer work team, saying “ Work is not limited to one person nor to a certain timing. There are many existing examples of the humanitarian voluntary work undertaken by Dubai Customs staff, marking  the benevolence  of our employees and trails of goodness they contributed to the society.”

He then added, “ The true power of volunteerism is primarily incubated within the internal work environment, then unleashed to touch upon all aspects of social work.”

During the opening ceremony, Mariam Khalifa Al Shamsi, Senior Manager of Government Partnership at the Corporate Communication Department, provided a brief on the newly updated volunteerism mechanism. She also called upon all DC employees to join the group in order to expand the active volunteers base and to seek their continuous training and fruitful involvement in various volunteering and humanitarian activities  across the nation.

Meanwhile, a great flow of valid and positive suggestions were discussed and documented, which are expected to better enhance the training of volunteering team.

At the end of the event, the Executive Director of Human Resource, Finance and Administration  Affairs Division, honoured a host of Dubai Customs’ volunteers as a tribute for the their contributions in a number of religious and humanitarian occasions during the year 2015.
