As part of Dubai Customs’ commitment to having stronger ties with foreign diplomatic corps in order to better anchor the Emirate’s trade, HE  Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Dubai Customs Director, received the Indonesian Consul-General in Dubai, H.E Arzaf Fachrezy Firman, to discuss further cooperation and means of reinforcing bilateral economic ties between the UAE and the Republic of Indonesia. The meeting was also attended by Faisal Issa Lutfi, CEO of Dubai Customs World and DC’s External Relations Director.

H.E Arzaf Fachrezy Firman, the Indonesian Consul-General in Dubai, hailed Dubai Customs’ role and efforts undertaken in supporting bilateral trade growth between the two nations. He also reaffirmed the General Indonesian Consulate’s keenness on holding further future meetings, in order to reach the highest levels of coordination between the two parties; which in return would help in boosting Indonesian trade, by ensuring the best utilization of Dubai’s firm status as a leading regional and global hub of trade.

H.E Ahmed Mahboob, said on the occasion of the visit, “We at Dubai Customs are keen on further developing cooperation and coordination with the Indonesian General Consulate in an effort to stimulate bilateral trade. Dubai trade with Indonesia reached AED 8.4 billion in 2014, of which AED 7.5 billion are imports, AED 656 million exports, and AED 236 million re-exports. Meanwhile, Dubai-Indonesia trade was valued at AED 2.1 billion in Q1 of this year.”

Musabih also remarked that Dubai Customs’ approach in developing commercial and customs relations  with Indonesia stems out from the directives of H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai,  to boost trade with Asian countries at large. “So, as we seek to deliver the best customs facilitations and services to Indonesian trade to help build its capacity to reach out for European and African markets, while ensuring the best use of the advanced infrastructure Dubai has to offer in terms seaports, airports, free-zones and other business services.”

Faisal Issa Lutfi said Dubai Customs, through DC World, is willing to take its rich expertise in the field to Indonesian Customs. “We are always ready to cascade our latest innovations to other Customs administrations worldwide within a spirit of knowledge transfer and sharing of the best practices aiding global trade.”
