Under the slogan ‘Moving into the future at the speed of light’, the annual ceremony was held by Dubai Customs to say thank you to its dedicated employees who delivered outstanding results last year and whose excellent performance contributed towards better positioning DC as a “leading world Customs administration supporting legitimate trade”.

This year’s Fakhr Al Furdah honoured some of DC’s ex-employees who clearly marked its long history, namely Abdulrahman Al Saleh, currently Director General of Finance Department – Dubai Government, Hamad Fadel Al Mazroui, Hamid Khalifa Bin Thyban , Sayed Mahmoud Sayed, Nasseb Saeed Nasseb, Saeed Nasser Al Mansouri, Abdul Razzak Mohammed Al Fakeh and Hashem Darwish.

Also honoured were distinguished departments and staff as well as employees who earned their high education degrees in 2013.

Sultan bin Sulayem greeted the audience and commended the one-team spirit which distinguishes the management of Dubai Customs. He stressed on the importance of innovation in all work aspects for the ultimate goal of seeing the vision and objectives of Dubai become a reality. “Dubai aspires to be number 1 in everything, as stated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai,” he remarked.

Bin Sulayem said Dubai Customs plays a key part in realizing this goal, being a major actor in the UAE economy whose primary duty is to safeguard the local community and economy.

He underscored that the leadership team of Dubai Customs strongly supports training programs that can hone the skills of employees and enable them to perform their duties proficiently.

From his part, Ahmed Mahboob hailed the efforts made by DC employees throughout the year, noting that their dedication and commitment to excellence and innovation helped improve the performance level at DC and had the greatest impact on the impeccable image and high standing of Dubai Customs, which  earned it numerous local, regional and international awards.

Mahboob expressed great pride in all employees and in their potentials and capabilities, which are a major factor for work development at DC and for helping DC position itself among local, regional and international Customs administrations.

He added that the efforts exerted by employees have contributed to achieving an economic and commercial growth that goes beyond Dubai and the UAE boundaries into  the GCC countries and the region as a whole. Their efforts also led to securing borders and entry points, thereby protecting Dubai’s economy and community against all harms that would affect its safety and stability.

Ahmed Mahboob urged all employees to work hard with a spirit of belonging and loyalty to the one family of Dubai Customs, making sure to defend its name and reputation and to bring its members closer to each other. “These are vital elements for us to succeed and progress and move forward in our quest for excellence and innovation,” he continued.

Mahboob underlined the importance of providing a stimulating and inspirational working environment for employees to be creative and excel in their jobs. “Optimal coordination of your efforts as one team is equally important. Appreciation and encouragement are an integral part of DC’s organizational culture towards its employees,” he remarked.

The renowned actress Samira Ahmed and the media star Rashid Al Kharji animated the ceremony.

A video showcasing the most prominent of DC’s 2013 achievements was  played during the event to highlight the diligent efforts exerted by Dubai Customs’ staff as well as the values and work ethics they live by.

Live entertainment, thrilling contests, and mega prizes, including flight tickets and hotel accommodation marked the cheerful ceremony.

Moreover, Dubai Customs presented monetary and non-monetary gifts to children from the Al Ihsan Charity, enough to draw a broad smile on their little faces.

This year’s Fakhr Al Furdah was filled with excitement and surprises. Attendees competed for the prizes and spent a pleasant time together away from work environment.
