Dubai Culture Inaugurates ‘Under the Shades of Ghaf’ Exhibition

The first art exhibition organised by Ghaf Publishing to celebrate the work of a group of Emirati and UAE-based artists participating in the ‘Artist of the Month’ initiative

Dr. Saeed Mubarak bin Kharbash, CEO of the Arts and Literature Sector at Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, (Dubai Culture), inaugurated the ‘Under the Shades of Ghaf’ art exhibition organised by Ghaf Publishing at Al Safa Art and Design Library to celebrate the works of a group of Emirati and UAE-based artists. The exhibition will welcome visitors from 11 May – 2 June.

The opening ceremony was held in the presence of Budoor Al Budoor, Afra Mahmoud and Ameera Bu Kadra, the founders of Ghaf Publishing; in addition to participating artists.

During the opening, bin Kharbash praised this initiative from Ghaf Publishing, affirming Dubai Culture's keenness to support events whose goals coincide with the Authority's mission to support talents and make culture accessible for everyone, everywhere across cultural assets and public libraries, especially Al Safa Art and Design Library, which is an inspiring platform to celebrate all kinds of arts and cultural creations. He also praised the showcased works, calling on enthusiasts and rising visual artists to visit this exhibition and explore the creativity of the participating artists.

‘Under the Shades of Ghaf’ is highlighting artworks across visual art and photography, created by a group of artists who participated in the 2021 ‘Artist of the Month’ initiative launched by Ghaf Publishing. The showcased artists include Magdy al-Kafrawi, Salma Al Marri, Feryal Albastaki, in addition to Faisal Alrais, Amal Murad, and Youssef Al-Qasimi, who specialise in photography.

Ghaf Publishing is an electronic library and a publishing house whose team works to promote select books and republish old works to distribute them fairly and make them accessible.
