The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Legal Services department in association with Al Tamimi & Company, organised, “Business Licencing and Employment Workshop” at the Chamber premises on Wednesday.

The workshop, which was attended by business executives, corporate counsels, lawyers, legal professionals, investors, and SME owners, dealt with the topics of meeting legal governmental requirements for setting up businesses as well as understanding the issues related to the labour law in the UAE.

Conducted by Samer Qudah, Partner and Regional Head of Corporate Structuring, and Ivor McGettigan, Senior Associate, Al Tamimi & Company, the half-day workshop was followed by a question and answer session.

Jehad Kazim, Director, Legal Services, Dubai Chamber, stated that the workshop will help businesses understand the licencing requirements prior to setting up, the labour laws and its clauses and will also enable them to understand employment requirements and contractual provisions.

Ms. Kazim further added that it is quintessential for business owners to know the right steps and procedures required for the establishment of businesses and this Dubai Chamber-organised workshop imparted the skills to understand the legal fundamentals of doing business as well as the applicable labour law which she said are the bases of the success of a business in today’s competitive environment.

The Legal Services Director pointed out that Dubai Chamber regularly organises training, seminars and workshops to serve the business community in boosting their trade while contributing to the economic growth of Dubai.

Samer Qudah, Partner and Regional Head of Corporate Structuring at Al Tamimi & Company said: “We are delighted to have been given the opportunity by the Dubai Chamber to speak at this important workshop on Corporate Structuring and Employment Law in the UAE. The legal sphere in the context of setting up a business in the UAE and Employment Law matters can be opaque.

“As such Al Tamimi has dedicated departments for both Corporate Structuring and Employment Law, and we were able to draw from our experience to offer the audience an analysis on the law, advice on practical matters and discussion on some real life cases. The interest from the audience in today’s topic reinforces the need and benefit of such workshops and we applaud the Dubai Chamber on this initiative.”
