Dubai’s RTA says NOCs for driving licences can now be submitted online

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has set up an online system to allow employers to issue NOCs (no objection certificates) to employees for getting their driving licences.
The RTA will gradually phase out the existing paper-based transactions, it said in a statement.
“Developing this online system caters to the needs of business organisations for a standardised online system for the issuance of NOCs to some categories of employees who are required to present such NOCs for obtaining driver licences,” said Jamal Assada, director of Drivers Licensing at RTA’s Licensing Agency.
The initiative requires the concerned company to sign-up on the RTA website and open an account for the transaction.
“The system saves the time of applicant as the NOC can be issued in less than three minutes, besides saving the hassles of preparing and endorsing letters and enhancing the governance of transactions,” said Assada.
“The online system has been developed after engaging stakeholders and addressing their requirements to ensure the optimal benefit from the system,” he added.
The RTA confirmed that the move was part of Dubai’s Smart City initiative.
