DPG rewards talented gardeners in its Layan community

Dubai Properties Group (DPG), a member of Dubai Holding, rewarded gardening enthusiasts at its Layan residential community recently by holding a competition to find the best garden. The initiative, which was launched in support of Earth Day on April 22, gave villa tenants a month to showcase their best gardening efforts, with the winner awarded in their garden. 

Participants were asked to submit a photo of their garden to a panel of DPG official judges, who then made their selection based on type of trees planted, colors, length and plant positioning  as well as decoration and pots used.

The initiative is an example of DPG’s corporate responsibility (CR) platform “Responsible Living” launched in 2011. As part of this programme, DPG facilitates events and joint initiatives with authorities and non-profit organisations in an attempt to give back to the community and promote different aspects of living responsibly.

This year’s ‘2012 Best Garden Competition’ at Layan was well received by residents, yielding a good turnout and creating a sense of community pride amongst participants. The initiative will be a regular on the event calendar in the coming years.
