Dow Coating Materials introduces product line dedicated to maintenance and protective coatings for oil and gas industry

Dow Coating Materials (DCM), the premier supplier of products and technologies to architectural and industrial coatings manufacturers, today announced the launch of its new OUDRA product line at the 14th Annual Middle East Corrosion Conference (MECC), taking place in Bahrain, February 12-15, 2012. OUDRA is a new line of external protective coatings designed to address the coatings challenges faced by the Middle East oil and gas industry due to high temperatures and a corrosive environment.
Dow Coating Materials is dedicated to the development of innovative materials used for paints and coatings that protect industrial assets and allow for the creation of environmentally-conscious formulations. Pronounced “Oo-Drah”, the name for the OUDRA line of products originates from the combination of terms “Ouroboros,” a sign of infinity, and “Durability,” to represent the host of high-performing solutions the technology will bring customers.
“Pipeline and equipment corrosion protection is a key priority for the oil and gas industry in the Middle East,” says Bilal Ghalaini, Regional Commercial Manager for DCM in the Middle East and Africa. “Coatings systems are essential to extending the life cycle of installed pipe systems, and preventing corrosion-induced failures, which can lead to leakages that require an extensive shutdown and repairs, resulting in a loss of revenues. Our new OUDRA line of products helps protect new assets and facilitates the maintenance of existing ones under the most extreme temperatures and environmental conditions.”
OUDRA is the inaugural line of products targeting performance formulations for industrial coatings in DCM’s Maintenance & Protective Coatings business segment. OUDRA represents forthcoming novel materials and hybrid technologies that will complement the current portfolio of Epoxy and Acrylic products. The new technologies are designed to perform in some of the world’s harshest conditions, while managing challenges such as growing environmental concerns and the growth and preservation of the world’s infrastructure and other high value assets.
Leveraging the global capabilities of The Dow Chemical Company and tailoring to local needs, DCM’s dedicated team of experts works side by side with its formulator partners and the largest end-users for oil and gas, pipelines, marine, and infrastructure at all levels to come up with real-world solutions to solve extreme problems related to the maintenance and protection of strategic assets.
