The DMA organized a workshop about Reviewing and Categorizing Initiatives in the Municipal System

As step to enhance the strategic planning and develop the initiatives process in the Municipal System which leads to more efficiency in the Municipal work and enhances the level of services provided to the residents, the Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA) organized a workshop titled “Reviewing and Categorizing Initiatives in the Municipal System”.

The workshop was attended by officials in the municipal planning and Strategic Planning & Performance Management divisions in the DMA, and the Emirate’s Municipalities, Abu Dhabi City, Al Ain City & the Western Region.

The workshop assessed existing and new initiatives in the Municipal System and discussed initiative prioritization and categorization approach in order to enhance efficiency and improve services provided to the public. Furthermore the workshop discussed the role played by three common committees inside the Municipal System which are responsible of the unified strategic planning in different areas and they are the urban development and infrastructure, municipal services and human resources committee. The attendees discusses the need to categorize initiatives among these committees and how to develop strategies and initiatives and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) in these areas. Furthermore the workshop discussed the Key Performance Indicators and if these would serve the priority initiative focusing on the relation between the initiatives and key performance indicators in order to define any gaps between them and also between priorities and key performance indicators and if the initiative helps to achieve the KPI’s.

The prioritization and categorization process of the unified initiatives in the Municipal System will support the management process of municipal initiatives and will helps to achieve the objectives set by the Government of Abu Dhabi to enhance services offered to citizens of the Emirate.
