The Department of Municipal Affairs forms a Work Team to build capacity and enhance national competencies in the municipal system

In a step aimed to enhance the capabilities of the national workforce in the municipal system, His Excellency Majid Ali Al Mansouri Chairman of the Department of Municipal Affairs in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi (DMA) issued a decree to form a Work Team to create a sustainable capacity-building in the municipal system. the team is headed by H.E. Engineer Ahmed Mohammed Al Sharif, the Undersecretary of the Department of Municipal Affairs, and the membership of the Executive Directors and other officials in different sectors of the DMA.

The formed capacity building team seeks to achieve several objectives, including the development of a sustained national capacities in the Municipal System, which include human and knowledge capacity, scientific, technical and institutional capacity building to ensure sustainability in the municipal work , and enable it to play an active role in the promotion and development process of human resources, as well as working on supporting decentralization and participatory urban management processes in order to provide an effective framework for sustainable capacity building, and to find effective channels of communication within the municipal system and with strategic partners in order to strengthen joint efforts to achieve the strategic objectives and provide excellent and integrated services to the public.

Among the tasks and functions entrusted to the team, will be to study and diagnosis of the current status of the Municipal System capabilities and identifying weaknesses, and develop a policy and a clear strategy to build a sustainable capacity to achieve the requirements of the Emirate vision.

It is worth mentioning that this decree comes within the framework of continuing efforts by the Department of Municipal Affairs to raise the capabilities of national workforce and strengthen the role of competencies in municipal work and strengthen its contribution to the development process taking place in the municipal system in the emirate, thus contributing to enhancing the efficiency of municipal work and increase productivity and upgrading services provided to residents of the emirate and its investors and visitors.
