The Department of Municipal Affairs enhances cooperation with the Korean Development Institute

As step to enhance cooperation and exchange knowledge and experience in development programs and infrastructure projects, the Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA) received a delegation from the Korean Development Institute (KDI) headed by Mr. Taihee Lee, Director of the institute and included Mr. Kwangsok Oh, research fellow at the National Information Society Agency (NIA). The delegation was received by H.E. Engineer Ahmed Mohamed Al Shareef, the Under Secretary of the Department of Municipal Affairs and a number of officials in different sectors in the DMA.

The Korean delegation listened to a presentation focused on the Municipal infrastructure projects and development programs in the Municipal field and discussed ways of enhancing cooperation and exchanging knowledge in different areas focusing on the Geographic Information System project (GIS) and other electronic related services provided by the Municipal System to the residents and investors in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The GIS is a leading project for developing an integrated spatial data infrastructure which will enhance services in this sector to all the clients and partners of the municipal system in the public and private sector through the well-connected systems that can keep pace with the rapid growth of the spatial data sector and push economic growth and comprehensive development in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

In addition to that, the DMA reviewed in the presence of the Korean delegation the Knowledge Management Project “Musharaka”  which among its objectives to raise the efficiency and the productivity of the employees, improve their performance and enabling them to share knowledge and experience, news and data which can assist in developing the work process.

H.E the Engineer Ahmed Mohamed Al Shareef emphasized the importance of the above projects to enhance the quality of services provided to the residents, investors and visitors to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, referring to the high-tech infrastructure in South Korea which provides some of the best Municipal electronic services and made the country one of the most advance countries in the world.
