Digital professionals invited to meet and connect at Refresh Qatar

Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar invites designers, web developers and e-marketers to discuss ‘Design, Content and Creativity’ at a web and digital experts community meet-up on Saturday, 19th November at 10.30 AM. Registration is required.

‘Refresh Qatar’, a bi-annual networking event held at the VCUQatar building in Education City, is intended cultivate and promote the local expertise of creative and technical experts who work in Doha.

The November event will feature four speakers: a designer, branding expert, entrepreneur and Arabic blogger, who will address a wide range of topics including user-interface design, the impact of culture on the branding of an organization, the process of creative design for non-designers and writing for the web.

Multi-disciplinary designer and VCUQatar professor Michael Hersrud will speak about the recent influence of technology, devices and standards on front-end design and how they impact the next-generation of websites.

Managing Director of design agency FITCH Middle-East, Olivier Auroy, will explain why local culture impacts global innovation and how brands in Qatar and the Gulf can contribute to improve our daily lives.

The topic of how to manage a successful web design project is tackled by Abraham Kamarck, entrepreneur and co-founder of start-up Doha-Delivery.com.

Finally, AmmarMohammed, a Qatari new-media expert at Al-Jazeera News will discuss blogging and how content on websites and social media can improve the visibility of a person, company or organization.

Event organizer Balal Khan said: “Refresh meet-ups are fast-paced and fun, where we discuss anything from design to technology and everything in-between”. He added, “We hope to bring the Qatar web community together to talk business, make friends, and strengthen the community in the process.
