As Bahrain gears up for its second International Air Show - which will see a multitude of key players in the global aerospace and aviation industries descend on the Kingdom for the three day event - DHL has announced it will showcase its upgraded fleet by introducing its Boeing 757-200 aircraft for visitors to view. A DHL Boeing 747-400 aircraft will also participate in the fly by on Saturday 21 January.

DHL, the International Specialists, have been in Bahrain for 35 years. The Kingdom is the host of DHL’s Regional Hub and has provided DHL with continuous support over the years. DHL has invited its client’s from all over the region to attend the event as guests of DHL Express.

Mr. Nour Sulaiman, CEO of DHL Express Middle East and North Africa said: “This year’s Bahrain International Air Show is a key event for DHL Express, and reinforces the Kingdom’s position as a gateway to the rest of the Middle East and a logistics hub for the region.. Last year’s show saw USD $1 billion worth of deals signed by international participants, and the unprecedented growth the aviation sector is experiencing over recent years is expected to continue well into 2020, so I expect to see this figure increase at 2012’s show.”

“We now employ 1200 staff in Bahrain of which 90% are nationals and will continue to support the community by participating in key events such as the Air Show, which bolster the Kingdom’s economy and provide all of us in the aviation industry a valuable platform to showcase our services to trade partners and the public.”

DHL Aviation EEMEA B.S.C.(c) (the Bahrain airline) is the central platform for the company’s air network operations across the Middle East, and covers a vast geography, encompassing almost 90 countries. DHL Aviation’s Boeing 757-200, which will be on display at the BIAS, is equipped with a two-crew glass cockpit, along with more fuel-efficient engines, which will help cut emissions and better aligns the airline with DPDHL’s Go Green Initiative.

Mr. Sulaiman went on to say that “During 2011 DHL added two Boeing 757-200PCF aircraft to our existing fleet of over 20 aircraft in the EEMEA Region in response to the needs of our customers. They began operations during Q4 of last year and have proved their worth in the demanding environments that we operate in here in the Middle East. The B757 provides capacity to transport up to 30+ tons of material, and also affords us the capability to operate into more restricted airfields than the other aircraft types currently being operated from our Hub in Bahrain.”

DHL, the world’s leading Express company, operates Boeing 747’s enabling DHL’s Express business to connect Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America. Much of the freight received on these DHL aircrafts are destined for customers within the Middle East and West Asia in support of businesses and humanitarian operations.
