ALBAWABA - U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Iran's "new regime" president asked Washington for a ceasefire.

Trump said Wednesday he will consider the proposal once the Strait of Hormuz is "open, free, and clear."

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on March 31 that President of the U.S., Donald Trump, is already in contact with potential leaders of the "upcoming regime in Iran".

Rubio confirmed that Trump is holding discussions with a "new and more rational regime" in Iran. However, he refused to name the people who, according to the Secretary of State, would be the leaders of the new regime in Tehran.
