Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) launched the first initiative of its kind in the Middle East, called Strategy Pioneers, in collaboration with organisations that have achieved excellence and have entered the Hall of Fame for implementing their strategies in the region.

The initiative is in line with DEWA’s vision to become a sustainable world-class utility, drive sustainable development in Dubai, and promote the Emirate as a global hub for trade, finance, and tourism.

DEWA invited all the different organisations that have entered the Hall of Fame in the region to participate in the event. These organisations include the Dubai Executive Council, Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, Dubai Aluminum (Dubal), Bahrain Electricity and Water Authority, and the Bahrain Ministry of Works. The organisations expressed their interest in attending the workshop as pioneers and founder members of the initiative, which aims to promote the best practices in strategy.

“We are led by the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to promote the growth and sustainable development of Dubai. Being the first organisation in the Middle East and North Africa to achieve the Hall of Fame for executing strategy, DEWA continues to implement the principles of a strategy-focused organisation by emphasising the effective endorsement of executive leadership, translating the corporate strategy into operational terms, aligning these strategies and cascading them all the way down to each employee to make it an everyday practice for everyone, and make it a continuous process,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.

“The ‘Strategy Pioneers’ initiative will serve as a platform for knowledge partnerships and to exchange information, share international best practices and administrative updates in strategic planning and implementation to develop relevant systems and management across government, semi-government and private organisations,” added Al Tayer.

The initiative has been welcomed by the participating organisations and will include an annual workshop where member organisations will meet to review corporate strategy, strategic planning and implementation and share key achievements. The event will host global speakers on selected subjects in the field of strategic planning and implementation, and seminars on how corporate strategic work can be developed and partnership potential strengthened among members.
