Canon supports independent photographers with sponsorship of Egypt Photo Summit
Canon Middle East, a world leader in imaging solutions, supported the Egypt Photo Summit as a sponsor of the biggest photography and CGI community event in the country, held recently at the American University in Cairo.
The Summit, open to both aspiring and professional photographers, featured interactive product exhibits, keynote speeches, workshops, discussion panels, photo exhibitions and open photo sessions. Leaders in the photography industry attended to discuss the importance of high quality yet affordable technology in photography and CGI equipment.
As a key activity at the summit Canon hosted a two hour photography workshop providing camera training and an overview of the customer benefits of Canon’s Professional Services (CPS), the international program that offers owners of Canon equipment free checks, cleaning and loans where required at major events.
Two booth areas in the exhibition were also dedicated to Canon, the first showcasing products and lenses for testing including C300, EOS 5D MIII, EOS 6D and EOS 700D. The stand also featured a ‘Click & Print’ photo booth facility allowing visitors to take photos as a souvenir. A second booth, hosted by Canon’s partner Silicon 21, offered a wide range of Canon products for testing and purchasing on site, with the benefit of photographers gaining insight on the product properties during the two hour workshop.
Anurag Agrawal, Managing Director, Canon Middle East said: “Canon supports independent photographers as part of our corporate social responsibility to provide them new insights into the advances in digital photography and thus strengthen their skills. The Egypt Photo Summit brings together amateurs and professionals who are passionate about photography, and it is our privilege to support this community event.
“As gathering information and news becomes more visual, the photo and video industry is gaining further traction. Canon provides a versatile collection of cameras that incorporate digital EOS technology to suit a wide range of needs from personal use to HD films. Our presence allows us to interact directly with consumers on the products available that can assist with low-budget but high-quality projects.”
Social networks that connect independent photographers are growing in the region with thousands of members registered with groups such as Photopia, Qabila, Cairo Photography Club and more. At the Egypt Photo Summit photographers and videographers had the opportunity to meet with stylists, directors, models and advertising executives to exchange ideas and showcase the latest trends.
