Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority Resumes Charter Flights and Receives Its First Flights of the New Season
The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) continues to adopt initiatives with an aim to attract more tourists to the Kingdom of Bahrain and increase the tourism sector’s contribution to the national economy. In light of this, BTEA welcomed passengers who arrived on the first charter flight of the new season from Russia, Moscow on October 7, 2019.
Representatives from BTEA welcomed the passengers at the Bahrain International Airport with a traditional live band performance, giving them a glimpse of Bahrain's rich history and hospitality of its people.
The first flight commissioned by Coral Travel within the charter program from Moscow to Bahrain took place in October 2018 with two flights scheduled per week. This will be increased to three weekly flights until May 2020, carrying 220 passengers thatwill be staying in 30 different hotels acrossBahrain.
“The BTEA has strengthened its presence, bilaterial relations and partnerships with travel and tourism organizations, tour operators, travel agents and airlines across the world through its representative offices located in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), India, France, Germany, Russia, Kuwait and the United Kingdom. We will continue to work closely with all our representative offices to bring in tourist groups from around the world, further developing the tourism sector and increasing the contribution of non-oil based sectors of the national economy,” said Tourism Advisor at BTEA, Dr. Ali Follad.
Receiving charter flights comes as part of the BTEA’s long term strategy to bring in large tourist groups, further developing the Kingdom’s tourism sector on a regional and international level under the slogan of ‘Ours.Yours.’, which contributes towards the Kingdom’s economy and the 2030 Economic Vision.
Numerous travel agencies today focus mostly on chartered flights, since it involvesrenting an entire aircraft as opposed to individual aircraft seats, and creating all-inclusive packages for tourists which includes everything from accommodation to meals and entertainment.

Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority was established in 2015 under the Royal Decree number (76) for the year 2015 issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain. Whereas the first clause of the Decree number (10) stated that an authority should be established under the supervision of the Council of Ministers
In 2015, BTEA started its operations under the Decree number (9) for the year 2015 to append the Tourism Affairs to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce based on the recommendation of HRH Prime Minister and under the law number (62) of the year 2016 to establish and regulate the Bahrain Exhibition and Convention Authority (BECA) and the Decree number (1) for the year 1985 to establish a Supreme Council for Tourism, and the law number (15) for the year 1986 to regulate the Tourism sector amended by a Law by Decree number (12) for the year 1994.
