In Tosca, an opera in three acts, events take place in 1800 where painter Mario Cavaradossi and his lover Floria Tosca hide Cesare Angelotti, an escaped political prisoner. Events unfold as Baron Scarpia, chief of the secret police realizes that Cavaradossi has offered help to the prisoner and a struggle ensues between Tosca and Scarpia to save Cavardossi from execution.
