AUB launches its 150th anniversary celebrations and inaugurates its 16th president on Monday

The American University of Beirut will launch the 150^th anniversary celebrations of its foundation in 1866 starting with the official inauguration of its first Lebanese President, Dr. Fadlo R. Khuri, on Monday, January 25, 2016.

The ceremonies begin at 3:00 pm with a procession through AUB campus leading to Assembly Hall where the official induction of President Fadlo Khuri will take place. Participating in the procession with President Khuri will be international students carrying the flags of all nations represented at AUB, the presidents and representatives of universities worldwide, AUB trustees, deans, and faculty members in professorial robes.

After his formal investiture, President Khuri will preside over the launch of AUB’s 150^th anniversary program through a special performance and light show outside AUB’s College Hall that introduce a year of academic, social, and artistic events that celebrate the rich legacy and bright future of the University under the slogan ‘We Make History’.

Proceedings of the inauguration will be broadcast on big screens around campus and live-streamed to YouTube on www.aub.edu.lb/live for AUB alumni and friends around the world.
